Since 1st of January 1991, Wallonia has had its own cashier with whom its cash position is centralized. Among others, the cashier ensures the execution of the transactions operated by the Region and the daily consolidation of all accounts opened in its books by Wallonia.
The contract was initially concluded on July 17, 2012 with Belfius Bank. In the meantime, the Walloon Government agreed to extend it for a further period of 5 years (from January 1, 2018), keeping a total debit facility of EUR 3.25 billion on its current accounts.
